Border 2
Sunny Deol’s war action epic Border 2 continued its extraordinary box office run through its extended 4-day opening weekend, according to Koimoi’s latest box office analysis. Koimoi reports that the film not only delivered massive single-day collections but has also already recovered around 70% of its reported ₹275 crore budget — a rare achievement for a January release in Bollywood.
Koimoi highlights that Border 2 scored a blockbuster extended weekend total of ₹193.48 crore (India net) by Day 4. The film’s daily collections chart has shown consistent growth — from ₹32.10 crore on Day 1, ₹35 crore on Day 2, ₹57.20 crore on Day 3, and a strong ₹63.59 crore on Day 4. These numbers reflect both strong word-of-mouth and high footfall in theaters across the country.
Koimoi notes that while Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan still holds the top position for Republic Day collections with ₹70.50 crore, Border 2 has now secured the second-highest Republic Day box office figure ever for a Bollywood film. With its ₹63.59 crore haul on Republic Day itself, this Sunny Deol-led film has re-energized theatrical audiences.
According to Koimoi, Border 2 has recovered approximately 70.35% of its reported ₹275 crore production cost through its robust weekend collections. By Day 4, the film’s India gross stood near ₹228.30 crore, meaning it still needs about ₹81.52 crore more to fully recover its total investment and enter the profitable zone.
One of the most impressive highlights in the Koimoi report is that Border 2 has surpassed every single opening weekend of 2025 Bollywood releases so far. This includes films like War 2 (which had an opening weekend of around ₹179.25 crore), Dhurandhar, Chhaava, and others. Koimoi confirms that Border 2 now sits atop as the strongest Bollywood debut of the year.
Despite Border 2’s historic start, Koimoi also points out that War 2 holds the #1 spot for the longest extended opening week in 2025 with around ₹209.1 crore over eight days. However, in terms of opening weekend impact alone, Border 2 has emerged as the clear front-runner among all Hindi films released so far.
Koimoi speculates that the real test now lies in how Border 2 performs through the coming weekdays and whether it can maintain strong box office momentum. With such a promising start, industry analysts are watching closely to see if the film can eventually enter the ₹300 crore club domestically and fully secure its financial success.
